Foundation is strictly what its name suggests: the bottom upon that you’ll build your entire makeup look. Foundation is associate degree umbrella term for a large type of product that fluctuate in texture, colour, and consistency.

To break it down simply, foundation is a cosmetic that’s applied to the whole face (and sometimes the neck, décolletage, and body) to provide an even finish to the skin. Each product is different, and it’s important to understand those differences so you can find the best match for you.

How to choose the best foundation for you:

• Choose your coverage: Do you want full coverage, sheer, medium or buildable.

• Choose your formula: Do you want a stick foundation, a liquid, cream or powder.

• Choose your finish: What type of finish would you like from your foundation, dewy, matte, glowing, luminous, natural etc.

• Know your skin type: Do you have a oily skin and need a matte finish or do you have more of a dull skin and would like more luminous finish.

What is my ultimate way of applying foundation flawlessly:

Here's where the second-skin magic comes in. Grab a damp makeup sponge (make sure you've already squeezed out any excess water into a paper towel), and gently dab, —never smudge or swipe—the side of the sponge over your face to seamlessly melt the foundation into your skin. Use the pointed tip of the sponge to blend out the foundation around your nose and eyes.
